Large-scale Moscow's Attacks Cut Electricity Throughout Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a young boy was killed in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, Europe and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Officials stated that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets targeted the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A series of attacks hit power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Several of the people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been taken to hospital, according to city authorities.

Local officials said the urban area experienced heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were injured.

The attacks succeed periods of air raids in the area, parts of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to detect.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the national power system, with assaults already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and officials were preparing for further attacks.
