It's difficult for Australia to break new ground.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the chance.

Ultimately, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy receiving a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India briefly halted the winning streak.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this newest brilliant performance surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was considerably tougher to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you completely engage with the competition."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was in motion.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was removed her side needed 66 more at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"To chase 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, should it happen, we know we can succeed."

That comment will be the last rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph following victory over Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a game Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
